Thank you for coming tonight.  I look forward to discussing my expectations with you.  There are various sign up sheets around the room.  Sign up for what you can!  After that, you can have a seat at your child's desk.  While you wait, please write a note to your child; they love getting mail from Mom and Dad!

Dear Thoughtful Students,

I am so pleased with the work we are doing this week with Reading.  You are very thoughtful in your responses.  We are going to accomplish terrific things this year!

Please wash your hands, order your lunch and read this message.  Next, spread out your homework.   Your morning work is to complete the book cover for the door.  Once that is finished, please work in your "I am a 4th Grader" book.  I look forward to learning about you through this book!

Happy Monday Workers,

I hope you had a fabulous weekend.  I look forward to a full week of working here in fourth grade.  Please come in, wash your hands, order your lunch and follow the directions in this letter.

Today, we will begin our Poetry routine.  This is when we read a poem each week and learn something from it.  Please read the poem that is on your desk.  Once you have read it, please number the next page in your spelling folder 1 -15.  Finally, meet with a partner and practice reading the poem fluently.

At morning meeting, we will learn the "sharing" routine.  I think you will enjoy this part of our day.  Mrs. Harvey will share today.
