This week we learned:
I learned that there are different kinds of numbers.  (Arrianna)
I learned that there are prime and composite numbers.  (Megan)
I learned that there are many ways to make 3.   Ex: 5 - 2 = 3(Jessie)
I learned some of the multiplication facts.  For example (9 X 9 = 81 (Caprice)
I learned that Math is a noun.  (Nathan)
I learned that we need to increase stamina during "Read to Self." (Billy)
I learned that my teacher is really nice. (Jackson)

We review the rules every day.  When the rules are followed, there are many possible rewards.  If someone breaks a rule, there is a specific routine that we follow.

This is an example of our number observation.  We will routinely use this observation as a way to review and introduce key math concepts.
The word observation is another routine that helps to active our knowledge.  Soon this routine will give way for the sentence observation.

Recess is a daily occurrence that everyone loves!

Welcome New Students,

I am thrilled that you are here today!  I can't wait to get to know you better and begin learning with you!

Every morning, you will read a letter like this from me.  It will tell you what to do to get ready for our day.  You will also find clues about our daily learning here.  This is being posted on my blog at www.harveyshomebase.blogspot.com.  You can read the blog here at school and at home.

After you have read the letter, you should put your backpack at your desk and then do the following:

1.  Wash your hands.
2.  Order your lunch by moving your stick into the correct category.
3.  Give me any notes you have from home.
(Go ahead- do those things now!)

Lastly, you do the morning work I assign.  Today's morning work is to read and look inside the owl bag you have on your desk.  Please do not put anything in your desk yet.  We might be changing desk assignments based on your size.

Kindly,
Mrs. Harvey
