I can't believe we are already through a month of 2014.  Did it go fast for you too?  _Kalib________, ____jacob_____, _____kaitlyn______ and ___________ will share a food this morning.  I am anxious to tell you more about Newbery Club.  I will have the permission slip for you today.  I also want to know who is interested in doing a Science Fair project!

Please order your lunch and wash your hands.  As it is the end of the month, you should make sure your books read list is accurate.  When that is done, please meet with a partner to do your spelling test.  Finally, please take a picture of your learning and email it to harveysclass@outlook.com.

To begin our day, please write on the post-it note how you "Put First Things First."  Next, please work on page 255 in your Math text book.  I need you to do numbers 1-6 and 16-22.  If you finish that, please choose a black box game from Topic 8.  If we run out of black box books, you can use a copy from the side table.

Snow day

Hello Students,

I hope you are warm and cozy on this frigid day!  I know you have a bonus day, but I hope many of you will use this opportunity to complete last night's Nutrition work at brainpop.com.  I can tell many of you didn't log on before the password expired.  You CAN log on today, even though it's a snow day.  (Brainpop doesn't know how cold it is here!). Also, I challenge you to spend as much time on ixl.com practicing your multiplication and division facts as you do on flappy birds!  Lastly, maybe today is a good time to research valentine mailboxes and start building yours!

I am glad you have arrived safely.  It is a stangely sunny snow day!  Our schedule will be a little different today.  Thank you in advance for your calm flexibility!

To begin, please wash your hands and order your lunch like normal.  While you are up, you should return your library books.  Also, pick up the poem, multiplication and division tests.  After reading your poem, please put that in your folder.  Next, I need you to complete pages 16 and 14 in your white packet.  If you finish all of that, you can take a look at the app called Educreations.  I hope to show you how to use this app later today.

This week we learned:


I learned more parts of the digestive system.  For example, the esophagus brings food down your throat to your stomach.  (Maggie)
I learned about visualizing, making a mind movie.  (Sophia)

I learned how to do long division.  (Jack)
I learned that the inside of  a stomach has tiny crevices.  (Kalib)

I learned how to do the expanded algorithm for multiplication.  (Matthew)
I learned about using QR codes.  (Ben)
I learned that when playing Bananagrams you have to use as many words as you can using 15 letters.  (Alexa)
I learned that the digestive system starts in the mouth, goes to the esophagus, through the stomach, small intestine and large intestine and then out the anus.  (Kaitlyn)
I learned about the 5 main digestive system parts.  (Brooke)
I learned there are three sections in the Atlantic region.  They are New England, Mid-Atlantic and the Southern Atlantic.  (Melanie)

Hello.  I hope you are surviving this digestive unit; I know the topic can be a little overwhelming!  We will continue to discuss the digestive organs as the week goes on!
